The Superintendent Licensure online program is designed for educational leaders who are seeking the rigorous development needed to meet the challenges of today’s complex educational environments. Through 100 percent online coursework and clinical experience, you will develop the leadership knowledge and skills to apply current theory at the district level as superintendent.
Our dedicated faculty provide you with a practitioner-focused approach to best practices using active and collaborative learning strategies. The curriculum for the online Superintendent Licensure program meets the National Educational Leadership Preparation (NELP) and Ohio Standards for Superintendents (OSS) standards. As a student, you will gain an in-depth understanding of current issues affecting learning organizations, including instructional use of technology, human resources policy, and the role and limits of law in promoting educational reform.

It's easy to apply with our streamlined admission criteria.
The YSU online Superintendent Licensure program has specific requirements that applicants must meet to enroll. Please read the admission guidelines to ensure you qualify.
- Complete online application for admission
- Pay $45 application fee ($90 International). Waived for active/veteran military members or for applicants who have attended the College of Graduate Studies in the past.
- Names and contact information for 3 professional references (in online application)
- A master's degree from a college or university certified by a regional accrediting agency approved by the U.S. Department of Education
- Cumulative grade-point average in undergraduate work of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale
- Cumulative grade-point average in graduate work of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
- Submit official transcripts of all undergraduate and graduate coursework from regionally accredited institutions
- Applicants with a GPA between 2.5 and 2.99 must submit official scores for the Graduate Record Exam (GRE).
- Valid principal license
- Students without a teaching certificate or license may be admitted on an individual basis to graduate programs leading to certification or licensure in certain areas
