• What do you want students to take away from your classes?

  School leaders will examine laws, guidance documents and policies that govern special education services. This understanding allows the leader to remain compliant but also provides purposeful reflection on how to create a culture that promotes success for all students.

• What advice would you give to those considering the online M.S.Ed. – Educational Administration (With Principal Licensure Option) program?

  Be fully engaged in your learning. Be reflective in your thinking. Both actions will allow your formal education to meaningfully merge with your daily practices.

• What do you think is the biggest challenge that teachers and educators face today?

  The greatest challenge for schools is being responsive to the shifting needs of students and the societal issues that shape these needs. Today, administrators and teachers are expected to meet the unique needs of each student academically, socially, emotionally and physically. Because of this expanded role, schools need more than ever to establish community-based partnerships to develop the resources and expertise necessary to support a holistic education for all students.

• Why did you start teaching?

  I wanted to make a positive difference in the lives of children with disabilities.
