The RN to BSN online program at YSU is designed for working nurses with a desire to transform healthcare. The admission process is the first step toward earning your online RN to BSN degree from Youngstown State University. A look at the RN to BSN online curriculum.
To complete the Registered Nurse to Bachelor of Science in Nursing online program, you must complete a minimum of 122 credit hours, comprised of 28 core nursing credit hours, 75 credit hours of general education and ADN/ASN nursing courses (eligible for block transfer credit), and 19 credit hours of additional general education requirements.
By the end of this course, students will be able to:
- Examine the historical evolution of Nursing and Nursing Education as a developing profession in the United States.
- Analyze the contribution of research, theory and nursing organizations professional standards to nursing practice.
- Describe the interrelationships between person, health, environment, and nursing.
- Analyze the value of the nursing process, critical thinking, communication and collaboration skills to nursing practice.
- Describe various nursing roles within the healthcare system including managerial and leadership roles.
- Examine legal and ethical Professional standards which impact health care and the profession of nursing.
By the end of this course, students will be able to:
- Analyze the nurse's role in utilizing technology and health care informatics.
- Examine the use of technology and Nursing Informatics (NI) to plan, implement and evaluate care for patients throughout the life span.

The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE)—a nationally recognized accrediting agency for baccalaureate and graduate nursing programs—is reviewing the YSU Centofanti School of Nursing for continuing accreditation in February, 2022. The following programs will be reviewed: BSN, MSN all options and post-graduate APRN certificates.
In accordance with CCNE’s procedures, the Commission provides the opportunity for program constituents and other interested parties to submit, in writing, third-party comments concerning a program’s qualifications for accreditation. Third-party comments pertaining to the Centofanti School of Nursing must be received by CCNE by January 24, 2022. Third-party comments must relate to the CCNE Standards for Accreditation of Baccalaureate and Graduate Nursing Programs (2018).
All third-party comments submitted to CCNE must be written in English, consistent with CCNE’s policy on Conduct of Business in English.
